What is Kerosene?Â
Also known as kero, burning oil and 28-second oil, kerosene is the most common type of heating oil used in homes in the UK.Â
Kerosene is made by distilling crude oil. It burns much hotter than home heating oil, meaning it can only be used in a furnace that handles high temperatures. This type of fuel is mainly used in home heating systems fuelled by an oil boiler, and it is also widely used in AGA cookers.Â
Kerosene burns cleanly and has a low carbon monoxide risk. Its low flash point makes it relatively safe to store and handle.Â
Storage and DeliveryÂ
The safest way to store Heating Oil is in a Bunded Heating Oil Tank. Bunded Heating Oil Tanks have an ‘outer-bund’, so they have two ‘skins’. The oil is held in the inner tank or ‘skin’ and the outer-skin is a secondary tank that offers additional protection against contamination, leakages, and oil replacement.Â
