Oilfast Coffee Morning 2025: Baking and Beating Last Year’s Total

At Oilfast, we take pride in coming together to support causes that make a difference. This year, our teams once again rallied behind Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting a Coffee Morning to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

Our first Coffee Morning last year was a huge success, with staff across our depots baking with enthusiasm and raising £508 — a total the Oilfast Group kindly topped up to £1,000. Building on that momentum, this year’s event was even bigger, featuring a wider mix of activities and plenty of friendly competition to make the day one to remember.

The Great Oilfast Bake-Off Showdown

From the moment the doors opened, the energy was unmistakable. Falkirk’s office was filled with the smell of Kinder tray bakes, tablet, curries, and stovies, while Motherwell buzzed with anticipation. Stacey’s M&M and Kinder Bueno cookies were quick crowd-pleasers, but Jamie Drummond’s chilli was also drawing plenty of attention.

The competition soon heated up. Motherwell began campaigning for their own prize category, hoping to avoid going head-to-head with the other depots — and with Stephen’s approval, they got it. From there, the tactics began. Rumours spread that the finance team might have tried to sway the judges. Originally, Liam McAdam and Elise Robertson from FleetBlue were due to decide, but a third judge, Matteusz, was soon drafted in.

Coin Tosses, Close Calls, and Sweet Victories

In the end, it came down to two contenders: Dawn McGregor’s cheesecake balls and Stacey’s cookies. If any influence had been attempted, it hadn’t worked — the judges were split 50/50. The only fair solution? A coin toss. Dawn took the win for the second year running! Ever gracious, she tried to hand her prize to Stacey, but the rules were the rules — and Dawn will now be spending her day off over Halloween enjoying a well-earned break.

Meanwhile, in Falkirk, a surprise entry from Tony Stewart stole the show. His Beef Stifado wowed the judges and proved that unexpected entries can rise to the top.

Best Losers and Wooden Spoons

Both offices also handed out wooden spoons for the “worst” bakes — though with so many great dishes, they decided to award them to those who skipped the baking and brought along shop-bought goods instead. Callum Dickie earned his for bringing bakery-bought pies, and Falkirk’s went to Scott Shields for his generous donation of Greggs bakes.

Strangely enough, both seemed delighted with their new kitchen utensils – even more than our best bake winners.

Bingo, Banter, and Big Wins

As the day progressed, the reverse raffle, quiz, and bingo kept the energy high. Staff from neighbouring offices joined in, donating to the cause, while Henry’s Coffee made a special donation with their excellent blends. Falkirk’s bingo proved a highlight, with prizes including prosecco, beer, hot chocolate sets, and even Haribo, keeping everyone entertained right up to the end.

Beating Last Year’s Total

When the final count came in, it was clear that the Oilfast team had outdone themselves. The coffee morning raised a remarkable £722, surpassing last year’s amount by £214. But the generosity didn’t stop there – the Oilfast Group once again topped up the donations, bringing the total to a staggering £1,222, £222 higher than last year, making a significant contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support.

A Team Effort to Remember

A massive thank you goes to everyone who baked, donated, played, or spread the word. From the creativity in the bake-off to the energy in the quiz and bingo, the day was a true testament to the spirit and dedication of the Oilfast team.

At Oilfast, we pride ourselves on more than our work — we pride ourselves on making a difference together, and our Macmillan Coffee Morning is a perfect example of how teamwork, generosity, and a little healthy competition can create something truly special.
